According to a statement from ÖSYM, Assessment, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) President Prof. Dr. Bayram Ali Ersoy spoke at the General Consultation and Training Meeting regarding the exams and projects organized by the ÖSYM Presidency.
Stating that they will conduct exams in all exam centers this year, Ersoy said, "We will generate questions and make evaluations using artificial intelligence, and this will be a very important beginning in this field."
Ersoy also stated, "We are carrying out meticulous work to ensure that our candidates, especially in the earthquake zone, do not experience any problems."
Pointing out that candidates form the basis of their work, Ersoy noted that they aim to provide the most efficient assessment, carry out placements, and create the most suitable conditions for the candidates.
In this context, Ersoy stated that they came together with center employees and personnel working in the coordinatorship offices, explaining the work at the center and new projects to them in detail. He explained that they had the opportunity to determine needs more healthily and efficiently in line with the notifications and reports they received from the coordinators, who know the field conditions best in the exams they administer.
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE WILL BE USED
Stating that they aim to actively use artificial intelligence in ÖSYM applications, Ersoy continued as follows:
"We have artificial intelligence experts on our team. We aim to benefit from these professors in the most efficient way. We have started our work in this field. This step we take will enable all institutions to establish much more effective coordination in their exam processes. We will generate questions and make evaluations using artificial intelligence, and this will be a very important beginning in this field. It will make a great contribution to conducting exams in much more efficient environments. While utilizing artificial intelligence, we will not ignore the human factor; we will maintain the balance between machine and human."
THE NUMBER OF DIGITAL-BASED EXAMS WILL INCREASE
Bayram Ali Ersoy reminded that they added two new exams to the foreign language exams they conduct as electronic exams (e-exams), and that they held the STS Pharmacy and the 2023 Pharmacy Specialization Education Entrance Exam in a digital environment.
Regarding digital exams, Ersoy evaluated, "In the upcoming period, we will have new exams that we conduct in a digital environment. Our work on the transition from paper-based exams to digital-based applications will continue. Digital applications will bring savings and also offer candidates the opportunity to use their exam results much faster."
EXAMS WILL BE HELD IN ALL EXAM CENTERS
Bayram Ali Ersoy also touched upon the exam applications to be held in the earthquake zone.
Ersoy shared the information, "We will conduct exams in all our exam centers in 2024. We are carrying out meticulous work to ensure that our candidates, especially in the earthquake zone, do not experience any problems. We have updated our data according to the status of destroyed, damaged, and newly built schools."
TR-YÖS WILL BE HELD IN APPROXIMATELY 50 COUNTRIES
Reminding that they held the Turkey Exam for International Students (TR-YÖS) twice last year after a 13-year break, ÖSYM President Ersoy spoke as follows:
"We will hold the 2024 TR-YÖS/1 application on May 18 in approximately 50 countries at nearly 80 centers. Between 70-80 thousand international students register in Turkey every year. By increasing this number, we want to help our universities accept international students. We want TR-YÖS to be valid not only in Turkey but also internationally. We see TR-YÖS as an important factor in the promotion of our country."
