The Ministry of National Education (MEB) has made an important decision to ensure schools are properly prepared ahead of the High School Entrance System (LGS) exam. To ensure that preparations at exam centers are completed without any issues, education and training will be suspended for one day on Friday, June 12, in primary, middle, and high schools across the country.
This regulation came to the agenda after the LGS exam date was moved from June 14 to Saturday, June 13, due to the match the National Football Team will play against Paraguay in the World Cup. MEB officials stated that administrative leave has been granted to schools so that the disinfection and classroom arrangement work required to be done one day before the exam can be completed comfortably.
It was emphasized that within the scope of exam preparations, all measures will be taken in the relevant educational institutions to clean the halls where the exam will be held, adjust seating arrangements, and ensure that students can take the exam in a healthy environment.
Evaluating the issue, Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin stated the following: "When the exam was held on Sunday, we were making certain preparations on Saturday in the schools where the exam took place. Now, in order for those preparations to be made on the previous day, we have granted one day of administrative leave on Friday, when education and training would otherwise continue. Our students, teachers, and all our institutions have been granted one day of administrative leave. We will carry out the preparations in the schools where the exam will be held. We thought that our students would be rested that day, and our teacher colleagues and parents would be able to spend time with their children," he said.
In line with this decision, while administrative leave will be used for students, teachers, and school staff on June 12, work will continue at exam centers without slowing down. Students who will participate in the High School Entrance Exam will take the exam on Saturday, June 13.
