Schools reopen following attacks: Minister Tekin provides assurance
As the break in education following school attacks in Şanlıurfa and Kahramanmaraş comes to an end, students have returned to their classes, with Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin emphasizing that there will be no compromise on the safety of children.

Following the school attacks that took place in the provinces of Şanlıurfa and Kahramanmaraş, education had been suspended in recent days. Today, schools opened their doors to students once again. On the first school day of the week, Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin issued a statement providing assurance to families and students.
In a statement shared via his social media account, Minister Tekin used the following expressions: "It is our responsibility as a Ministry to build the peace of our children with tranquility and to protect that light shining in their eyes. It should be known that we will not allow the slightest compromise regarding the safety of our children."
Furthermore, he underscored that education has returned to its normal flow following the distressing events experienced across the country. Tekin stated that as an educational community, they bear the responsibility of regrowing the seeds of hope and that the strong bonds children have with the state will be protected.
Addressing another important issue he focuses on, the Minister said, “We will not allow our children to lose their human values and their strong bonds with our state and this noble nation. With this belief and effort, we continue our work in solidarity and cooperation to ensure that Turkey’s national unity and togetherness are always protected.”
In his statement, Tekin also emphasized the value of the teachers who dedicate themselves to education and all segments that foster unity and togetherness in schools. “The labor of our precious teachers, who shoulder the burden of education and work tirelessly for our future with their compassion and devotion, is the future of our country. I extend my gratitude to our colleagues, parents, and unions who turned our schools into a space of solidarity this morning with our crescent-and-star flags in their hands,” he said.
Wishing God’s mercy upon those who lost their lives in the unfortunate attacks and patience for their families, Yusuf Tekin also shared his well wishes for all citizens affected by the events. He concluded his message by saying, “I wish a productive week to our children, who deserve the best of everything, and to our teachers who guide them.”
