Teachers awaiting appointment are victims of interviews: Thousands of appointments pushed to 2026
The latest developments regarding teacher appointments have disappointed thousands of teacher candidates awaiting placement. The statements made by Levent Kuruoğlu, Chairman of Hürriyetçi Eğitim Sen, have brought serious concerns about the fairness and transparency of the process back to the agenda.

Hürriyetçi Eğitim Sen Chairman Levent Kuruoğlu stated that out of the announced 25 thousand teacher appointments, only 15 thousand will be made in 2025, while 10 thousand teachers have been pushed to 2026 due to the National Education Academy process.
Kuruoğlu said, 'The insistence on interviews increases grievances. Appointments should be made solely based on KPSS scores.'
GRIEVANCES DEEPEN IN TEACHER APPOINTMENTS
Hürriyetçi Eğitim Sen Chairman Levent Kuruoğlu evaluated the teacher appointments announced by the President and said, 'Do not create new grievances.'
In the continuation of his statement, Kuruoğlu included the following remarks;
The President has announced that 25 thousand teachers will be appointed, with 10 thousand of them through the National Education Academy.
25 THOUSAND WERE ANNOUNCED, BUT 15 THOUSAND APPOINTMENTS WILL BE MADE!
What should be understood from this is that 15 thousand teachers will be appointed in 2025. The other 10 thousand will be left to 2026, conditional on success at the National Education Academy based on the 2025 Academy Entrance Exam results.
While our teachers, who are victims of the interview process, were waiting for hope and a solution, their grievances have multiplied with this announcement. We know that these 15 thousand appointments will also be made through interviews. At the very least, although we do not have much hope, we want to hope that a lesson will be learned from the interview disaster we have experienced and that an appointment will be made based solely on KPSS merit.
The National Education Academy process is pregnant with great injustice and grievances. All these events are a major blow to the faculties of education that serve as the source for the teaching profession.
