YÖK introduces age limit for second university programs
Only bachelor's degree graduates aged 35 and over will be able to enroll in open education programs for child development, philosophy, sociology, history, and Turkish language and literature within higher education institutions under the "second university" scope.

The Council of Higher Education (YÖK) has decided that, starting from the 2024-2025 academic year, only bachelor's degree graduates aged 35 and over will be eligible to enroll in open education programs for "child development," "philosophy," "sociology," "history," and "Turkish language and literature" within higher education institutions under the second university scope.
YÖK sent a letter to the rectorates of Anadolu, Atatürk, and Istanbul universities regarding the "second university without examination" program.
The letter, which details the new decision regarding registration procedures for the second university scope specifically for child development, philosophy, sociology, history, and Turkish language and literature programs starting from the 2024-2025 academic year, stated the following:
"In the meeting of the Higher Education Executive Board dated June 5, 2024, in accordance with Article 7-h of Law No. 2547, as amended by Law No. 2880, it has been decided that starting from the 2024-2025 academic year, only bachelor's degree graduates aged 35 and over may enroll in the open education programs for child development, philosophy, sociology, history, and Turkish language and literature within our higher education institutions under the second university scope, while the current practice will continue for other open education programs."
