YÖK takes '3-year' step for universities

The Council of Higher Education has entered a significant reform process to shorten the duration of undergraduate education at universities. According to the statement, successful students will be able to complete their undergraduate studies in 3 years.

Within the scope of the reform, steps such as simplifying course curricula and restructuring the credit system are being taken. Additionally, the opportunity to take courses from upper levels during summer school will be provided.

YÖK President Erol Özvar stated that these changes will increase students' capacity for projects and research.

Özvar said, "We aim to equip our students not only with theoretical knowledge but also with professional experience and scientific research. In this way, as is the case in many European countries, our students will be able to complete their undergraduate programs in 3 years."

With the reforms to be implemented, it is planned to make the higher education system more compatible with international standards and to offer students more practical opportunities. This new approach will enable students to prepare for the business world more effectively.
