In the March 31 Local Elections, the Republican People's Party (CHP) emerged as the leading party with 37.76 percent of the vote.

Following the elections, citizens began searching for the April 1st columns of writers, particularly those close to the government. One of the most prominent names among them was Abdulkadir Selvi.

President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's remarks directed at Hürriyet columnist Abdulkadir Selvi 8 months before the 2023 General Elections, saying, "You should also do what is necessary, Mr. Abdulkadir," had been widely discussed.

HE WROTE 21 HEADLINES ABOUT İMAMOĞLU IN 60 DAYS

Selvi, who wrote headlines about Ekrem İmamoğlu 21 times in 60 days and criticized Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu in many articles, had also written headlines along the lines of "Not a city alliance, but a Kandil alliance."

On the morning of April 1st, after the 60-day period, Selvi addressed his readers with the headline "Respect must be shown to the national will," stating that the voters had opened a space for the CHP, and said the following:

"THE RESULT WAS: SERVE CHP FOR 5 YEARS"

"In these elections, our people opened a space for the CHP in local governments. They said, 'Work and be successful in the local elections. I have no prejudice against you.' If the CHP utilizes this credit well and succeeds in local government, it could be a candidate for power in the 2028 elections. But if it launches an early election campaign based on these results, it would be misinterpreting the message given by the voters. No message for an early election came out of the ballot box. The result was: Serve the CHP for 5 years in local government."

Drawing attention to the election victories of IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and ABB Mayor Mansur Yavaş, Selvi said, "This election was, in a sense, the Istanbul elections. Ekrem İmamoğlu succeeded in winning Istanbul. While the CHP widened the gap in Istanbul and Ankara, it managed to retain metropolitan municipalities elsewhere. It added new places to them, as in Bursa. All eyes were on Ekrem İmamoğlu and Mansur Yavaş in these elections. The two mayors increased their votes and cemented their presence in Turkish politics."

"WE WILL WITNESS AN İMAMOĞLU-YAVAŞ RACE"

Selvi also stated the following in his article:

"Ekrem İmamoğlu and Mansur Yavaş are the favorite names for the presidential candidacy in the 2028 elections. The voters did not put either Ekrem İmamoğlu or Mansur Yavaş ahead in this race; they kept both on the racetrack. From now on, we will witness an İmamoğlu and Yavaş race. It is worth following the competition between İmamoğlu and Yavaş.

IT BENEFITED ÖZGÜR ÖZEL

The CHP's election success also secured Özgür Özel's seat. He can now sit comfortably in the CHP Chairmanship seat.

Özgür Özel made a responsible statement after the elections. Using an embracing language, he said there were no losers in the elections.

KILIÇDAROĞLU IS FINISHED

The ballot box ended the April 1st scenarios within the CHP. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has no political future left."
