Davutoğlu, who once said 'I will rouse all of Anatolia,' comments on the election: 'Proportional comparison is not objective'

Future Party leader Ahmet Davutoğlu evaluated the March 31 Local Administration General Elections in a written statement.

Wishing that the results of the first election in the second century of the Republic would be beneficial for the country and the nation, Davutoğlu stated that the peaceful conduct of the election was a major gain for democracy and thanked all citizens who cast their votes.

"PROPORTIONAL COMPARISON IS NOT FAIR"

Stating that as a party they must learn the lessons they need to from the election, Davutoğlu extended his thanks to all his party's candidates who ran under difficult conditions and fought selflessly.

Davutoğlu reported that they had decided to participate in the elections in extremely limited and focused areas, and that in some electoral districts, they supported candidates from other parties based on the qualifications of those candidates.

Noting that they entered the election in 10 percent of electoral districts, where approximately 4 percent of the total population lives, Davutoğlu argued that proportional comparisons made with parties that entered the election everywhere in Turkey are neither objective nor fair.

DECISION FOR "RADICAL CHANGE"

Davutoğlu used the following expressions:

"However, this situation does not eliminate the fact that we must also draw the necessary lessons. In order for Turkey to emerge from the spiral of crisis it has entered, we must first perform surgery on ourselves with a comprehensive self-criticism. It is not possible for a political party that cannot enter the public's radar to achieve results through theoretical work. In this regard, we have decided to implement a radical change in the coming period, both in terms of discourse and communication methods."

HE HAD SAID "I WILL ROUSE ALL OF ANATOLIA"

Future Party Chairman Ahmet Davutoğlu attended his party's Meram and Karatay district congresses in his hometown of Konya on July 19, 2020.

Addressing party members at the congress, Davutoğlu stated that the Political Parties Law had been changed to prevent the public from making choices according to their own will, and said, "Without needing anyone, in the first election to be held, those who meet under the plane tree, the symbol of the Future Party, will enter the election; no one can prevent this. I will go out into Anatolia and just say 'Esselamun Aleyküm' (Peace be upon you), and I will rouse all of Anatolia. No one can stop it."
