In the March 31 Local Elections, DEM Party candidate Abdullah Zeydan had won the Van Metropolitan Municipality.

The Supreme Election Council (YSK) is set to write the justification for its decision to grant the certificate of election for the Van Metropolitan Municipality to DEM Party's Abdullah Zeydan today.

Finally, the Council of Judges and Prosecutors (HSK) has launched an investigation into the Diyarbakır 5th High Criminal Court, which issued the decision to restore the prohibited rights of DEM Party Van Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Abdullah Zeydan.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Following an objection, the Van Provincial Election Board had decided by majority vote that Abdullah Zeydan, who received the most votes for the Van Metropolitan Municipality in the Local Administration General Elections, should be "considered unelected" on the grounds that he "lacked eligibility to be elected," and that the certificate of election should be delivered to the candidate who received the next highest number of votes.

DEM Party's objection to this decision was accepted by the YSK yesterday, and it was decided that the certificate of election should be given to Zeydan.

Following the Ministry of Justice's move to revoke Zeydan's restored rights, many protests were held in the city and the region, and dozens of people were detained.
