MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli made his first statements following the March 31 local elections.
In his statement, Bahçeli said the following:
"THOSE WHO RAISE A HUE AND CRY ABOUT 'EARLY ELECTIONS'..."
"The March 31 elections have practically documented that Turkish democratic life has reached a high standard and serves as an example to the world in this regard. The message our dear nation has given through the ballot box is significant.
The Presidential Cabinet is at its post. It will continue its breakthroughs and reform initiatives in every field with determination.
Our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, is the head of the state, and our support is behind him all the way.
No matter how anyone interprets the March 31 election results, the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) has achieved an effective success.
Through the local elections, our nation has specifically shared its social and economic difficulties and has determined the agenda for the upcoming period.
Those who spread rumors as if there has been a change in government and who raise a hue and cry about early elections are acting mindlessly; it is, in a word, recklessness and moral distortion."
MHP'S ELECTION RESULTS
In the March 31 Local Elections, the MHP became the 5th party with 4.98 percent, following the CHP, AKP, YRP, and DEM Party.
While the MHP did not win any metropolitan municipalities, it won Kırklareli, Çankırı, Karaman, Osmaniye, Tokat, Erzincan, Gümüşhane, and Kars.
