Following the Ministry of Justice's decision to revoke the restored rights of DEM Party Metropolitan Municipality mayoral candidate Abdullah Zeydan, the Van Provincial Election Board decided to award the mayorship to the second-place candidate, AKP's Abdulahat Arvas.

Thus, in Van, where the DEM Party won in all districts, the metropolitan municipality election result has changed hands.

Following the decision, street protests began to be held in Van.
