In the March 31 Local Elections, after the ballot boxes closed at 5:00 PM, all of Turkey became locked on the results in Istanbul.

While the YSK has not yet permitted data flow under election bans, Necati Özkan, one of the closest associates of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor and CHP's candidate for the new term, Ekrem İmamoğlu, made a remarkable post on X.

In his post on X, Özkan commented, "Tsunami."

Özkan's post led to interpretations that Ekrem İmamoğlu has created a significant lead over the People's Alliance candidate in Istanbul, Murat Kurum.
