100 decares of land reduced to ashes in stubble fire in Çerkezköy

A fire that broke out in the Çerkezköy district of Tekirdağ grew rapidly, causing damage to dozens of decares of woodland and grassland. The fire caused concern as it approached residential areas.

A fire broke out around 13:00 in a brushy area located between Tepe Emlak Konutları and the Kocameşe Picnic Area in the Çerkezköy district of Tekirdağ. The fire, which spread rapidly due to strong winds, advanced into the wooded and grassy areas in the region.

The flames approaching residential areas caused panic among neighborhood residents. While numerous firefighting teams were dispatched to the scene in a short time, teams from the Çerkezköy Municipality Directorate of Science Affairs also joined the efforts with excavators, graders, and water tankers. Additionally, reinforcement teams were called in from surrounding districts.

Local residents also supported the extinguishing efforts with tractors, shovels, and buckets. As a result of intense efforts, the fire was brought under control after approximately two hours. Cooling efforts are still ongoing in the area.

According to initial assessments, approximately 100 decares of brush, trees, and grass cover were burned and damaged. It was reported that an investigation has been launched by authorities regarding the cause of the fire.
