The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has begun the nesting season on Mediterranean beaches for the endangered loggerhead (caretta caretta) and green (chelonia mydas) sea turtle species.

There are 20 sea turtle nesting beaches in Turkey, including 9 in Antalya, as well as in the provinces of Muğla, Mersin, Adana, and Hatay

The General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks (DKMP) and the General Directorate for the Protection of Natural Assets have banned entry to all these beaches at night between May and September, which is the nesting and hatching period. Furthermore, activities such as entering these beaches by vehicle, setting up tents, camping, or lighting fires or barbecues are strictly prohibited.

Administrative fines are imposed on those who violate these bans. This fine amount has been set at 387 thousand 141 TL for the year 2024.
