AKOM issues downpour warning for Istanbul

According to AKOM's weekly forecast, temperatures in Istanbul will hover between 28-30 degrees; local rainfall is expected on Friday.

The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Department of Disaster Affairs and Risk Management, AKOM, has released its weekly weather forecast report for the city. According to the report, temperatures in Istanbul will rise to 30 degrees at noon today, dropping to 24 degrees in the evening and 22 degrees at night.

In its assessment, AKOM stated that no significant precipitation is expected throughout the week, with the exception of short-term and local rainfall anticipated on Friday. Temperatures across the city are expected to remain mostly in the 28-30 degree range.

Northerly winds, particularly from the northeast (Poyraz), are expected to blow strongly at intervals today. It was reported that wind speeds will be in the 20-50 kilometers/hour range, which will bring relatively cooler air to the city and limit excessive temperature rises.

On Friday, September 4, partly cloudy and locally rainy weather is forecast for Istanbul. The lowest temperature on Friday is expected to be 21 degrees, with a high of 28 degrees; precipitation is expected to be in the range of 1-3 kilograms per square meter.

There is no expectation of precipitation for the weekend. On Saturday, September 5, temperatures are projected to range between 21-30 degrees with slightly cloudy and clear weather. Clear weather is expected to prevail on Sunday, September 6, with temperatures rising to 31 degrees during the day.

According to the forecast, Monday, September 7, will be partly and slightly cloudy. While a drop in temperatures is expected in the following days of the week, a range of 20-26 degrees is projected for Tuesday, September 8, and 20-27 degrees for Wednesday, September 9. No precipitation is expected for either day.
