Bursa has only 35 days of water left: Nilüfer Dam has dried up, Doğancı is also at the point of exhaustion

The drinking water crisis in Bursa is growing increasingly severe. While the Nilüfer Dam, one of the city's most important sources for years, has completely dried up, the occupancy rate in the Doğancı Dam, which serves as the only alternative, has fallen to 19 percent.

There is not a drop of water left in the Nilüfer Dam, which is located at the foothills of Uludağ and has a water capacity of 60 million cubic meters. The Doğancı Dam, which has become the city's only hope, is also rapidly depleting.

In this process, pipeline work is ongoing to supply 110 thousand cubic meters of water daily from the Çınarcık Dam to Bursa's water network.

CRITICAL WARNING FROM THE MAYOR

Bursa Metropolitan Mayor Mustafa Bozbey called on city residents to conserve water, stating, "We currently have 35 days of water left." Bozbey added, "As of September, we will open the valve of the bypass line we have constructed, which is the line we connected from Çınarcık and transferred to Dobruca."

A similar situation is occurring in Antalya. The Üzümdere River, which feeds the Oymapınar and Manavgat dams, has completely dried up. The only hope in the region is for the expected autumn rains to begin.
