The General Directorate of Meteorology reported that temperatures will drop significantly over the weekend and announced that snowfall will begin from the western part of the country.
Meteorological sources stated that while temperatures in Istanbul will rise by 4-5 degrees on Thursday and Friday due to the effect of the lodos (southwesterly wind), they will drop by 10 degrees over the weekend to as low as 7 degrees, and pointed to Sunday for the expected snowfall.
Experts noted that the snowfall, which will begin on Saturday in Kırklareli, Edirne, and Tekirdağ, will continue to increase in intensity in inland regions on Sunday, and noted that snowfall will also be effective in some parts of western Istanbul.
