Downpours to continue in Istanbul throughout the week: Temperatures to drop to 14 degrees

According to the weekly weather forecast report published by AKOM, intermittent downpours and thunderstorms are expected in Istanbul throughout the week. Temperatures are expected to remain below seasonal norms.

It has been reported that air temperatures will remain below seasonal norms in Istanbul, accompanied by downpours and thunderstorms expected to be effective throughout the week.

According to the weekly weather forecast report published by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM), partly to very cloudy weather is expected to prevail across the city on Wednesday, May 20, with intermittent downpours and thunderstorms expected during the day.

The report stated that temperatures will remain below seasonal norms throughout the week.


PRECIPITATION TO INTENSIFY IN THE EVENING

The air temperature, measured at around 17 degrees in the morning, is expected to rise to 21 degrees at noon. From the evening hours onwards, thunderstorms are expected to be effective across the city. The nighttime temperature is forecast to drop to 14 degrees.

Officials announced that the humidity level will vary between 65 and 95 percent. The amount of precipitation is estimated to be between 3 and 7 kilograms per square meter.

RAINY WEATHER TO CONTINUE INTO THE NEW WEEK

According to AKOM's assessments, partly and at times very cloudy weather will be seen in Istanbul throughout the week. Intermittent downpours and thunderstorms are expected to be effective across the city.

According to the forecasts;

Thursday, May 21, will be very cloudy with intermittent downpours,

Friday, May 22, will be partly cloudy with local rain,

May 23, 24, and 25 will see thunderstorms,

Tuesday, May 26, will see partly cloudy weather with intermittent rain.
