Due to expected hot weather and strong winds, the Çanakkale Governor's Office has issued warnings to citizens regarding forest fires.
In a written statement from the Governor's Office, it was stated: “According to the latest forecasts from the General Directorate of Meteorology, in addition to hot weather, strong winds are expected in our province on Tuesday, 16.04.2024. This situation poses a very high risk in terms of forest fires. Unfortunately, many of the recent forest fires have been caused by human error. It is of great importance that our citizens strictly avoid fire on all lands and in privately owned gardens, and that they exercise caution and sensitivity regarding matters that could cause fires, such as burning fires for garden and field cleaning, burning stubble, and lighting fires during picnics. In case any forest fire is spotted, it should be reported to the 112 Emergency Call Center.”
