The Istanbul Governor's Office has issued a warning to citizens regarding snowfall expected to begin this evening and continue until tomorrow afternoon. The statement noted that weather conditions could negatively affect daily life, particularly in certain parts of the city.
According to information shared by the Governor's Office, the snowfall is expected to be particularly effective in the high and northern parts of the Şile, Beykoz, Ümraniye, Çekmeköy, Sultanbeyli, Sancaktepe, and Pendik districts. Additionally, it is estimated that snowfall will be significant enough to create a cover on the ground in the northern parts of Sarıyer, as well as in Arnavutköy and its surrounding areas.
The statement made by the Governor's Office on the matter is as follows:
"Attention to potential snowfall in Istanbul after evening hours
According to the assessments of the General Directorate of Meteorology;
The cold and rainy weather currently affecting Istanbul is expected to pause until this evening; it is estimated to resume as snowfall after the evening hours.
The snowfall is expected to increase in intensity towards the early morning hours and be strong at times until noon.
The snowfall is estimated to be effective enough to create a cover on the ground, particularly in the high and northern parts of the Şile, Beykoz, Ümraniye, Çekmeköy, Sultanbeyli, Sancaktepe, and Pendik districts, as well as the north of Sarıyer, and Arnavutköy and its surroundings.
Caution and measures should be taken against potential disruptions in transportation, icing, and frost events."
