Greta Thunberg fined for resisting police

Climate activist Greta Thunberg and activists from the environmental group 'Reclaim the Future' blocked a road last month during a protest against oil trucks attempting to enter the port of Malmö. The activists were subsequently forcibly removed from the area by police.

As reported by the BBC, Thunberg appeared in court for failing to leave the area despite police orders. Denying the charges in court, Thunberg was sentenced to pay 2,500 Swedish Krona (approximately 6,500 Turkish Lira).

FINED FOR THE SECOND TIME

Hours after the verdict, Thunberg participated in another road-blocking protest and was forcibly carried away from the highway by police. The 20-year-old activist was fined a total of 4,500 Swedish Krona (11,472 Lira). This marks the second time in three months that Thunberg has been found guilty and fined for the same offense.

Speaking at a press conference following the decision, Thunberg said, "There are no laws that protect us from the greed that is trying to drive us into the abyss in the long run. We young people do not want to see our future being taken away from us."
