Heat wave to affect the country in the new week: 12 degrees above seasonal norms!

Cengiz Çelik, Weather Forecasting Expert at the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change's General Directorate of Meteorology, made assessments regarding the weather conditions across the country in the coming days.

Stating that dry and hot weather will continue to be effective this week, Çelik said, "We expect temperatures to rise by another 3-4 degrees in the coming days. With this increase, temperatures across the country will rise 8 to 12 degrees above seasonal norms. The heat wave will continue its effect throughout the week."

He noted that while thundery showers are expected tomorrow in the east of the Southeastern Anatolia Region, particularly in the vicinity of Diyarbakır, Batman, and Şırnak, short-term showers may occur in the vicinity of Edirne and Çanakkale on Wednesday and Thursday.

Stating that temperatures in the Mediterranean Region will reach 30 degrees, and will rise to 25-26 degrees in Central Anatolia and 25 degrees in the Marmara Region, Çelik said, "These temperature values are well above seasonal norms."

Drawing attention to the risk of avalanches in places where snow depth is high in the eastern regions, Çelik emphasized that this risk may increase further as temperatures rise.

NO PRECIPITATION EXPECTED IN THE THREE MAJOR CITIES

Stating that no precipitation is forecast for Ankara, Istanbul, and Izmir, Çelik expressed that temperatures in these three major cities will remain well above seasonal norms.

Conveying that temperatures in Ankara will rise to 23-24 degrees, Çelik stated that while northerly winds are currently effective in Istanbul, temperatures will increase by 4-5 degrees starting Tuesday, reaching 21-22 degrees.

He added that temperatures in Izmir will increase gradually and will hover around 25-26 degrees throughout the week.
