Highest temperature in July measured at 46.8 degrees in Cizre

According to meteorological data, the average temperature in Turkey rose to 25.3 degrees in July; the highest temperature of the month was recorded in Cizre.

According to data from the General Directorate of Meteorology of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, the highest temperature in Turkey in July was measured at 46.8 degrees in the Cizre district of Şırnak. The lowest temperature of the month was recorded at 4.6 degrees in the Kangal district of Sivas.

While Turkey's average temperature for July is 25 degrees according to the 1991-2020 period normals, the average temperature for July 2024 was determined to be 25.3 degrees. With this value, last month became the 19th hottest July of the last 56 years.

Temperatures rose above seasonal normals in the coastal parts of the Mediterranean Region and in some centers in the Aegean, Eastern Anatolia, and Southeastern Anatolia regions. In the vicinity of Akhisar and Seydişehir, averages remained below seasonal normals.

While temperatures were above normal in the vicinity of Kuşadası, Aydın, Bodrum, Datça, Seferihisar, Nazilli, and Milas in the Aegean, the highest value in the region was measured at 42.6 degrees in Aydın. In the Mediterranean, temperatures above normal were observed in coastal areas, with the highest value recorded at 43.8 degrees in Kozan.

In the Southeastern Anatolia Region, the July average rose above the long-term value of 31.1 degrees to reach 31.8 degrees. The highest temperature in the region was determined to be 46.8 degrees in Cizre, and the lowest temperature was 16.3 degrees in Birecik.

Temperatures in most of the Marmara and Black Sea regions remained around seasonal normals. In Central Anatolia, the average temperature remained below the long-term average at 22.3 degrees; the lowest July temperature in Turkey was also measured in this region, in Kangal.
