The hottest place in July in the last 53 years: Thermometers hit 45.9 degrees in that district

Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum announced on his social media account that last month was recorded as the hottest July in Turkey in the last 53 years. Kurum stated that the highest temperature was 45.9 degrees in Cizre, and the lowest temperature was 5.2 degrees in Erzurum.

In Şırnak's Cizre, where the highest temperature of the last 53 years was measured in July, hot weather continues to have an effect, and the streets remain empty. Life practically comes to a standstill in the district, where streets and avenues are deserted between 12:00 and 17:00. A citizen named Mehmet Demir said, "It is incredibly hot here. I came from Van, I have been in Cizre for a few days and I am not used to this heat. Our city is not this hot. Because of the heat, the city is completely empty. You can be sure that the soles of my feet are burning. It is really very hot here; the place we came from is very cool and has good weather. May God help the people who stay in this heat. It is really quite hot, it is unbearable."

Stating that they cannot go out due to the high temperatures, Yusuf Üzen said, "There is extreme heat. The temperature is currently felt as 45 degrees. A heat record is broken in Cizre every year. We really cannot go out because of the heat. There is excessive sweat and humidity. We cannot walk outside because of the heat. Our elderly patients are getting sick due to the heat."
