The Istanbul Governor's Office has warned citizens due to the heavy rainfall expected in the city on Thursday. In the statement based on the latest assessments by the General Directorate of Meteorology, it was stated that the rainfall is expected to be particularly effective on the European side.

It was stated that the local heavy downpours and thunderstorms, which are estimated to begin after Thursday morning hours, could negatively affect daily life in some regions throughout the day.

The Governor's Office called for caution and vigilance against flash floods, inundation, strong winds that may increase in intensity during the rainfall, and potential disruptions in transportation.

On the other hand, the intermittent downpours that affected Istanbul last Saturday had caused flooding in some districts.

The following statements were included in the Governor's Office's announcement:

"According to the assessment of the General Directorate of Meteorology; based on the latest evaluations, local heavy downpours and thunderstorms are expected on the European side of Istanbul after the morning hours on Thursday, 09.07.2026. It is necessary to be careful and take precautions against negative conditions such as flash floods, inundation, strong winds during rainfall, and disruptions in transportation."
