Izmir's dams sound the alarm: 4 dams at critical levels

In Izmir, water levels in dams have approached worrying levels due to seasonal rainfall remaining below expected amounts.

According to data from the Izmir Water and Sewerage Administration General Directorate (İZSU), the water occupancy rate in the Tahtalı Dam, which meets a large portion of the city's drinking water needs, fell to 24.65 percent in the same period this year, compared to 37.55 percent in July of last year. 

The occupancy rates of the other dams are as follows:

Balçova Dam: 55.33 percent

Gördes Dam: 8.97 percent

Ürkmez Dam: 33.20 percent

Güzelhisar Dam: 77.07 percent

Alaçatı Kutlu Aktaş Dam: 26.07 percent
