A landslide that occurred in the Aydınlıkevler neighborhood of Trabzon's Ortahisar district blocked the entrance of a 4-story apartment building, leaving 6 people, including 3 children, trapped in their homes. As rocks and soil debris breaking off from the hillside blocked the building's entrance, the residents, unable to leave, reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center.
Police, AFAD, fire department, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. Firefighters rescued Melek Yılmaz and her children Nisa, Meryem, and Miray Yılmaz, along with their relatives Muhittin and Emine Canım, using a fire ladder extended to the balcony of their second-floor apartment.
Emine Canım described the moments of terror they experienced as follows: "We were preparing food in the kitchen when we heard a noise. I immediately ran out of the kitchen. My husband was also in the kitchen at that time. The soil and stones that entered the room broke the table and pinned my husband. My husband was slightly injured in his leg, but we all worked together to rescue him."
While the teams' work in the area continues, the moment of the landslide was captured on the building's security camera. AFAD and municipal teams are continuing cleanup and safety operations in the region.
