Meteorology issues warning: Heavy downpours are coming...
In a warning issued by the General Directorate of Meteorology for July 17, 2024, heavy downpours were forecast for the surroundings of Artvin, Erzurum, Kars, Ardahan, Bolu, and Çankırı, as well as the northern parts of Ankara.

According to assessments by the General Directorate of Meteorology, the country is expected to be partly to very cloudy overall, with local downpours and thunderstorms expected in the southeast of the Marmara region, the inland parts of the Mediterranean, the north of Central Anatolia, the inland parts of the Black Sea, the north of Eastern Anatolia, and the surroundings of Afyonkarahisar.
The precipitation is expected to be locally heavy in the surroundings of Artvin, Erzurum, Kars, and Ardahan, Bolu, and Çankırı, as well as the northern parts of Ankara.
The wind is expected to blow strongly (40-60 km/h) from northerly directions in the southwest of the Marmara region and the North Aegean coasts, and air temperatures, which are currently 3-7 degrees above seasonal norms across the country, are expected to continue rising.
The wind is generally expected to blow from the north, and from the south and west on the Mediterranean coasts and in Southeastern Anatolia, light to occasionally moderate, and locally strong (40-60 km/h) in the south of the Marmara region and the North and Coastal Aegean.
