MGM issues warning: Thunderstorms expected

According to the weather report for April 17 from the General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM), thunderstorms and showers are expected in Edirne, Kırklareli, and İzmir. Strong winds are also expected in the Marmara, Aegean, Mediterranean, and Central Anatolia regions.

The General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM) reports that the western parts of the country are expected to be very cloudy, with local showers and thunderstorms in the west of the Marmara region and the coastal areas of the Aegean, while other areas are expected to be partly to mostly clear.

The risk of avalanches continues in the high inner parts of the Eastern Black Sea region and on the high and steep slopes of Eastern Anatolia.

AIR TEMPERATURE

Air temperatures are expected to rise by 1-3 degrees in the eastern parts, with no significant changes elsewhere, and are expected to continue to hover above seasonal norms across the country.

WIND

The wind is expected to blow generally from southerly directions, and from northerly directions in the southeastern parts of the country, light to occasionally moderate; it is expected to blow strongly (40-70 km/h) from the southwest in the west of the Marmara region and the Aegean coast, and from the southeast in the inner parts of the Mediterranean and the south of Central Anatolia.

STRONG WIND WARNING

Since the wind is expected to blow strongly (40-70 km/h) from the southwest in the west of the Marmara region and the Aegean coast, and from the southeast in the inner parts of the Mediterranean and the south of Central Anatolia, caution and precautions should be taken against potential negative consequences.

AVALANCHE DANGER WARNING

There is a risk of avalanches on sloping terrain with deep snow cover in the inner parts of the Eastern Black Sea region and in the north and east of Eastern Anatolia.
