MGM issues yellow alert: Heavy rain and storms expected

The General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM) has released its latest assessment, forecasting that the country will be partly to very cloudy. Rain and showers are expected across the Marmara, Aegean, Western Mediterranean, northwestern Central Anatolia, Western Black Sea, and Central Black Sea coasts, as well as in the vicinities of Kırıkkale, Çorum, Amasya, Giresun, and the western districts of Trabzon. Thunderstorms are expected in the Marmara and coastal Aegean regions.

Precipitation is expected to be heavy in the coastal Aegean, the southern and eastern parts of Marmara, and the vicinities of Tekirdağ, Düzce, Zonguldak, Bartın, and Bolu, and very heavy to severe in the coastal Aegean. Localized fog and mist are expected in the eastern regions during the night and morning hours.

AIR TEMPERATURE: Temperatures are expected to rise by 3 to 7 degrees in inland areas, with no significant changes expected elsewhere.

WIND: The wind is expected to blow generally from southerly directions, light to occasionally moderate; it is expected to be strong and reach storm force (40-80 km/h) from southerly directions in the Marmara, coastal Aegean, northwestern Central Anatolia, and the Black Sea regions.

CITIES UNDER YELLOW ALERT: Aydın, Balıkesir, Bilecik, Bolu, Bursa, Çanakkale, İstanbul, İzmir, Kastamonu, Kocaeli, Kütahya, Manisa, Muğla, Sakarya, Sinop, Tekirdağ, Zonguldak, Bartın, Yalova, Karabük, and Düzce.
