The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change has imposed an administrative fine on İSKİ for discharging wastewater into the Sea of Marmara in front of the Kuleli Military High School in Üsküdar. During an inspection conducted on February 23, the Ministry determined that the wastewater discharged into the sea was brown and foamy. Analyses revealed that the 'suspended solids', 'biochemical oxygen demand', and 'total nitrogen' levels of the wastewater exceeded legal limits.

As this situation occurred for the second time, the fine amount was doubled in accordance with the Environmental Law and set at 2 million 674 thousand 708 TL. Previously, during an inspection at the same location on January 12, İSKİ was fined 1 million 337 thousand 354 TL due to the discharge of wastewater containing sewage and food waste. The Ministry had applied this fine based on 'Article 8 of the Environmental Law No. 2872'.
