Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı announced that Söke cotton has become the 27th product to receive geographical indication registration from the European Union (EU) on behalf of Turkey.

Yumaklı shared a post regarding the matter on his social media account.

"Söke cotton has become our 4th product from the land of fertile soils, Aydın, to cross borders," stated Yumaklı, adding the following:

"With Söke cotton receiving geographical indication registration from the EU, the number of our registered products has risen to 27. Our products with geographical indications will continue to add abundance to the fertile soils of their regions. Best of luck."

WHICH PRODUCTS HAVE RECEIVED GEOGRAPHICAL INDICATION?

Turkey's products with geographical indications, which have reached 27 with Söke cotton, are as follows:

"Gaziantep baklava, Aydın fig, Malatya apricot, Aydın chestnut, Milas olive oil, Bayramiç white nectarine, Taşköprü garlic, Giresun round hazelnut, Antakya künefe, Suruç pomegranate, Çağlayancerit walnut, Gemlik olive, Edremit olive oil, Milas oily olive, Ayaş tomato, Maraş tarhana, Edremit Bay green scratched olive, Ezine cheese, Safranbolu saffron, Aydın memecik olive oil, Araban garlic, Osmaniye peanut, Bingöl honey, Bursa peach, Hüyük strawberry, Bursa black fig, Söke cotton"
