Occupancy rate in Istanbul dams exceeds 70 percent

In Istanbul, where rainy weather continues to have an effect, the amount of water in the dams has increased significantly. According to the latest measurements, the dam occupancy rate across the city was recorded at 70.05 percent as of today. In recent months, water levels had dropped to as low as 20 percent, raising concerns about drought.

This increase in Istanbul's water resources was particularly noticeable at the Alibeyköy Dam. The occupancy rate, which was only 6.27 percent in November, has risen to 67.56 percent in the latest data. Areas that had dried up at Alibeyköy have filled with water again during this period. The increased flow in the streams feeding the dam, in particular, has allowed the reservoir to approach its former levels.

Across the city, the Elmalı Dam topped the list with an occupancy rate of 92.54 percent. Occupancy was measured at 92.37 percent at the Ömerli Dam and 86.11 percent at the Darlık Dam. Even at the Kazandere Dam, which had reached the point of near-total dryness at one time, the water level reached 62.1 percent. At the Papuçdere Dam, this rate was 57.99 percent.
