With the arrival of spring in the Beytüşşebap district of Şırnak, the protected crown imperials have bloomed. This endemic plant species, which draws attention with its yellow and red tones, is specially protected as it is at risk of extinction.

FINES INCREASED

Administrative fines imposed to prevent damage to crown imperials have been increased this year. The fine amount, which was 577 thousand liras last year, has been raised to 700 thousand liras as of 2026.

LIVES FOR ONLY 20 DAYS

Crown imperials, which can only be seen for a period of about 20 days a year, are also meticulously protected by the local people. Yılmaz Gükçe stated that they take care to protect the flowers, saying, "They grow in our region and in Hakkari. They live for 20 days of the year. Because they are in danger of extinction, our state imposes heavy fines on those who harm them."
