A statement on the subject came from İSKİ General Manager Şafak Başa. Stating that there will be no water problem in Istanbul and that they have made their plans accordingly, Başa explained that the main source is snow and spring rainfall.
Speaking to 10Haber, İSKİ General Manager Şafak Başa said that they expect the occupancy rate in the dams to increase with the rainfall and emphasized that the dams in Istanbul are not the only source.
Stating that they are transferring water from water basins such as Belen and Istranca, Başa noted that the last two years have been extraordinarily dry for the Marmara and Thrace regions.
Explaining that the drought was felt especially on the European side and that they are transferring water from the Anatolian side, Başa also said that they have taken precautions. Stating that they have established the system well, Başa explained that there is no water problem in Istanbul.
