With the drop in temperatures in the Eastern Black Sea region in the middle of September, snowfall became effective. The plateaus stretching from Trabzon to Bayburt were covered in a white blanket with the snow that fell throughout the night.

Snowfall was observed in the Sultan Murat, Kuşmer, and Mağlakamboz plateaus in the Çaykara district of Trabzon, as well as at the Soğanlı Mountain location on the Araklı-Bayburt highway. In Rize, the plateaus around the Kaçkar Mountains and Mount Ovit in the İkizdere district were among the areas covered in snow.

Residents of the Silve Plateau in the Torul district of Gümüşhane woke up to a snow-covered landscape in the morning. In Bayburt, the Sarı Çiçek Plateau of the Üzengili village and the villages located at the summit of Soğanlı Mountain in the Aydıntepe district were also blanketed in white following the snowfall.

Local residents welcomed winter early with this sudden change following the summer-like days. The snowfall came as a surprise, especially for those living in the higher altitudes, and signaled that winter has arrived early in the region.
