Striking data in the Meteorological temperature report! Record after record broken

The average temperature for June in Turkey, which is 21.8 degrees based on 1991-2020 normals, was measured at 23.0 degrees this June. June 2025 was recorded as the 4th hottest June of the last 55 years. According to Meteorological Database records, all-time high June temperature values were recorded in some centers (4 stations among those used for climate assessment) between June 26-29.

5 CENTERS BROKE THEIR OWN RECORDS

Record values were measured in June at 4 centers out of the 220 measurement stations used for climate assessment in Turkey. The June record in the center of İzmir, which was recorded as 41.4 degrees on June 13, 2024, was broken again this year on June 27 with 41.8 degrees. The record in Dikili, which was recorded as 41 degrees on June 21, 1942, became a new record with 41.7 degrees on June 27. While the old temperature record in Seferihisar of 40.5 degrees was broken with a new record of 40.6 degrees in June 2025, the 36.2-degree record in Istanbul Florya from June 28, 1982, was broken with 36.3 degrees on June 27. In Sinop, the 33.2-degree record measured on June 28, 2007, was broken this year on June 26 with 33.7 degrees.

JUNE RECORDS BY REGION

While the long-term average temperature for June in the Marmara Region is 22.0 degrees, it was 23.5 degrees in June 2025. The lowest temperature in the region was detected in Balıkesir at 9.2 degrees, and the highest temperature was detected in Lüleburgaz at 40.2 degrees. While the long-term average temperature for June in the Aegean is 23.7 degrees, it was 25.8 degrees in June 2025. The lowest temperature in the region was detected in Simav at 6.5 degrees, and the highest temperature was detected in Milas at 43.9 degrees. While the long-term average temperature for June in the Mediterranean is 24.0 degrees, it was recorded as 25.8 degrees in June 2025. The lowest temperature in the region was detected in Göksun as 4.6 degrees, and the highest temperature was detected in Dalaman as 43.0 degrees. While the long-term average temperature for June in Central Anatolia is 19.3 degrees, it was 20.4 degrees in June 2025. The lowest temperature in the region was detected in Kangal as 1.5 degrees, and the highest temperature was detected in Çankırı as 36.5 degrees. While the long-term average temperature for June in the Black Sea is 19.8 degrees, it was 20.1 degrees in June 2025. The lowest temperature in the region was detected in Bayburt as 3.4 degrees, and the highest temperature was detected in Ankara Beypazarı as 37.8 degrees.

A TEMPERATURE DIFFERENCE OF MORE THAN 38 DEGREES MEASURED IN THE SAME REGION

While the long-term average temperature for June in Eastern Anatolia is 19.1 degrees, it was 19.9 degrees in June 2025. The lowest temperature in the region was detected in Erzurum as -0.2 degrees, and the highest temperature was detected in Ergani as 38.4 degrees. While the long-term average temperature for June in Southeastern Anatolia is 27.2 degrees, it was 29.2 degrees in June 2025. The lowest temperature in the region was detected in Batman as 12.8 degrees, and the highest temperature was detected in Cizre as 45.6 degrees.

PRECIPITATION REMAINED BELOW NORMAL IN ALL REGIONS

Turkey received an average of 12.5 mm of precipitation in June. Precipitation remained 63 percent below the June normal of 33.6 mm (1991-2020). The lowest precipitation of the last 65 years occurred in Marmara, and the lowest of the last 22 years occurred in Central Anatolia.
