After experiencing snowfall in the first days of the new year, Istanbul continues to be under the influence of strong southwesterly winds. However, a significant change in the weather is on the horizon. Authorities are drawing attention to a marked decrease in temperatures starting Thursday and the possibility of snowfall in some areas over the weekend.

According to the latest assessments by meteorological teams, temperatures will drop by 8 to 10 degrees on Thursday, returning to winter levels. It is noted that snowfall may be observed, particularly in the higher parts of Istanbul, on Friday.

NTV Meteorology Editor Dilek Çalışkan stated that the southwesterly winds will intensify on Thursday. "Weather conditions will challenge us on Thursday and Friday," said Çalışkan, adding that she expects heavy rainfall in the Marmara and Aegean regions on Thursday. Çalışkan pointed out that wind speeds in Istanbul could reach up to 80 kilometers per hour at times.

On Friday, the first snow of the year is expected to be seen in some areas. Dilek Çalışkan stated that "there will be snowfall in the Inner Aegean, Western Black Sea, and Central Anatolia regions, as well as in the east," adding that "there is also a possibility of snow in some parts of Istanbul." In this situation, citizens are advised to be cautious against potential transportation disruptions and difficult weather conditions.

Authorities warn that the weather may show sudden changes in the coming days and advise citizens to follow the latest meteorological forecasts.
