The area around Lake Salda is becoming a new home for red deer
As part of the 'Project for Restoring Endangered Species to Their Former Habitats' by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry's General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks, 4 more red deer have been released into the forest surrounding Lake Salda in Burdur.

The forested area around Lake Salda, known to have been inhabited by red deer in the past, is being transformed back into a habitat for red deer through this project.
Four female red deer, captured by officials from the General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks (DKMP) at the Çatacık Deer Breeding Station in the Mihalıççık district of Eskişehir, were brought to Burdur.
The deer were released into the forested area on the Eşeler Plateau, located above the Lake Salda Nature Park in the Yeşilova district.
16 RED DEER HAVE BEEN INTRODUCED
With red deer brought twice from breeding stations in Bursa and Eskişehir, a total of 16 red deer, 3 males and 13 females, have been introduced to the area around Lake Salda.
It is stated that after a few years, with the red deer adapting to the region and reproducing, the forested areas around Lake Salda will become their new home.
The project aims to protect wildlife and to breed and reintroduce species whose populations are declining into nature.
