According to measurements taken by the European Union's (EU) Copernicus satellite monitoring system, July 21 has been recorded as the "hottest day" globally in recent history.

In a statement released by the Copernicus Climate Change Service, the average surface air temperature recorded globally on Sunday, July 21, reached 17.09 degrees Celsius.
The statement noted that July 21 was the hottest day recorded since the 1940s, while the previous record temperature was recorded at 17.08 degrees Celsius on July 6, 2023.
Copernicus Climate Change Service Director Carlo Buontempo emphasized in his statement that the 0.01 degree Celsius increase in temperature since 2023 is a "significant difference," pointing out that similar records could be broken in the future due to climate change.
