Thermometers exceed 40 degrees

Air temperatures in İzmir have risen well above seasonal norms and continue to make their impact felt. On June 25, temperatures reached 41.7 degrees in Bayındır, while 40.4 degrees were recorded in Karşıyaka, one of the central districts. Due to this heatwave, it was observed that popular areas such as the Kordon remained empty.

Bozdağ Ski Center stood out as the coolest spot in İzmir at 27.2 degrees. The 41.4 degrees recorded in the city center last year still remains on record as the record temperature for the month of June.

Meteorological authorities stated that temperatures will continue to hover at high levels today and tomorrow, while announcing that cooling and precipitation are expected for the weekend.
