Construction work has been ongoing since last night for the 'illegal' parking lot of the Medipol Acıbadem Regional Hospital, which was built on foundation land and whose founder is former Health Minister Fahrettin Koca. In the area, which is designated as a green space in zoning plans, construction work has been accelerated by cutting down trees despite the reactions of local residents.
THEY CUT THE TREES AT MIDNIGHT DUE TO PUBLIC OUTCRY!
Construction work, which had been halted for a long time due to the reaction of the neighborhood residents, began at midnight. When local residents went to the site due to the noise, they saw that the trees were being cut down and the work had accelerated.
The local residents are reacting both to the cutting of trees in an area designated as a green space in the zoning plans and to the noise and filth created by the construction.
IT WAS SAID THAT 'THE RESPONSIBILITY LIES WITH THE IMM'
The 23-story Medipol Acıbadem Regional Hospital even has a helipad. However, the hospital does not have a parking lot. For this reason, eyes turned to the green space right next to the hospital. Shortly after, the area was tendered to Otomatik Otopark Sistemleri San. ve Tic. A.Ş. and Torul Gayrimenkul A.Ş. by the decision of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Committee for the construction and operation of a fully automatic city parking facility for 30 years.
Since the area in question is within the borders of the Kadıköy Municipality, eyes had turned to the municipal administration. However, in the statement from the Kadıköy Municipality, it was stated that the responsibility and authority in the area belonged to the IMM. IMM officials, on the other hand, did not make any statement despite being called upon multiple times.
THERE WERE ALSO IRREGULARITIES IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE HOSPITAL
It is known that there were various irregularities during the construction process of the Medipol Acıbadem Regional Hospital. The Medipol Health Group first leased the land belonging to the General Directorate of Foundations for 16 years, and then for 36 years, and that is how the construction of the hospital began.
The hospital repeatedly exceeded and violated the construction scales specified in the initial project drafts. Thus, the parks and green spaces in its vicinity became unusable.
The hospital, which was initially designed as 6 stories, was increased over the years and has now been raised to 23 stories, including 8 basement floors, 12 normal floors, 2 roof floors, and a helipad.
