The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality's Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) has provided a weather assessment for the city for the upcoming week. The statement indicated that low-pressure systems arriving from the Central Mediterranean and cool air currents spreading from the Balkans will continue to have an effect. Experts emphasize that these systems will cause a drop in air temperatures and an increase in precipitation.

In the assessment made by AKOM, it was noted that winds are expected to blow strongly from the north and south at speeds of 20 to 50 kilometers per hour at times throughout the week in and around Istanbul. The statement also expressed that, as in the previous period, passing showers will be observed.

It was reported that very cloudy and partly cloudy weather will prevail in the city starting from Monday, February 23, and that showers will show their effect on Wednesday, February 25. It was announced that following the mid-week rainfall, light rain and very cloudy weather will continue on Thursday, and partly cloudy weather is predicted towards the weekend.

The weekly weather forecast shared by AKOM is as follows:

  • Monday, February 23: Partly and very cloudy
  • Tuesday, February 24: Partly and very cloudy
  • Wednesday, February 25: Showers
  • Thursday, February 26: Very cloudy, light rain
  • Friday, February 27: Partly and very cloudy
  • Saturday, February 28: Partly and very cloudy
