The sunny weather that has been effective in Istanbul since the beginning of the week is starting to lose its impact. According to the statement made by the Metropolitan Municipality Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM), a new wave of rainy weather will be effective in the city starting today. While the weekly report shared by AKOM states that no sudden drops in air temperature are expected in the coming days, it was noted that precipitation will intensify, especially as the weekend approaches.

While no cold wave is expected until the beginning of February, AKOM officials pointed out that precipitation in Istanbul will not stop completely. In the city, where temperatures are hovering around 15°C as of today, it was reported that rain showers will begin towards the evening hours.

Thunderstorms are expected across the city tomorrow morning. While these rains are estimated to continue intermittently throughout the day, short-term rain showers are expected on Thursday as well, with similar temperatures around 15°C. According to the information provided by AKOM, the amount of precipitation is expected to be between 3-7 kg per day.

For the weekend, there will be a significant increase in the intensity of precipitation in the city. In the warnings issued for Friday and Saturday, it is expected that heavy rains will show their effect on these two days and up to 15 kg of precipitation per square meter will fall. Citizens are urged to be careful against floods and water inundation, and it is advised to take precautions regarding sudden heavy rains.

Although no sudden cold wave is expected, it was noted that city residents should closely follow the weather forecast, especially on Friday and Saturday.
