Yellow and orange code warning from Meteorology for 26 cities: Heavy rain and storms are coming, beware of floods and flash floods!

The General Directorate of Meteorology has reported that showers and thunderstorms are expected across large parts of the country. While it was stated that rainfall will be heavy and locally severe in some regions, particularly in Samsun and Ordu, a yellow code warning was issued for 24 cities and an orange code warning for 2 cities. Strong winds and storms are expected in Marmara, the Aegean, Western Mediterranean, and the southeast of Eastern Anatolia, while dust transport is expected in the east and southeast. Warnings have been issued that heavy rainfall could lead to floods, flash floods, landslides, and disruptions in transportation.

According to the latest assessments made by the General Directorate of Meteorology: It is estimated that the northern, inner, and eastern parts of our country will be partly to very cloudy, with showers and thunderstorms expected in the east of Marmara, the Central and Eastern Mediterranean, Central Anatolia (except Eskişehir), the Black Sea, Eastern Anatolia (except Şırnak), and the northern and western parts of Southeastern Anatolia, while other places will be partly to mostly cloudy. Rainfall is expected to be locally heavy in the Central Black Sea, the west of the Eastern Black Sea, the east of Central Anatolia, the inner parts of the Eastern Mediterranean, and the surroundings of Hatay, and locally very heavy and severe in the surroundings of Samsun and Ordu, as well as the northern districts of Tokat. Dust transport is expected to be seen in the southeast of Eastern Anatolia and in Southeastern Anatolia.

Air temperatures, which are decreasing across the country, are expected to hover around seasonal norms in the western parts and below seasonal norms in other places.

WIND: It is expected to blow generally from northerly directions, and from southerly directions in the southeastern parts of the country, light to occasionally moderate, and strong from northerly directions (40-60 km/h) in Marmara, the Aegean, the Western Mediterranean, and the west of Central Anatolia, and as a storm in places (50-80 km/h) in the surroundings of Antalya and the southeast of Eastern Anatolia.

In the report of the General Directorate of Meteorology, a yellow code warning for heavy rain was issued for Adana, Amasya, Antalya, Bitlis, Burdur, Denizli, Giresun, Hakkari, Hatay, Mersin, Kayseri, Konya, Muğla, Nevşehir, Niğde, Siirt, Sivas, Tokat, Van, Yozgat, Aksaray, Karaman, and Şırnak, and an orange code warning for heavy rain was issued for the provinces of Ordu and Samsun.

VERY HEAVY AND SEVERE RAIN WARNING: According to the latest assessments; the showers and thunderstorms to be seen in the Central Black Sea are expected to be heavy (25-60 kg/m2) in the surroundings of Samsun, Ordu, and Giresun, as well as the north of Amasya and Tokat, and very heavy and locally severe (51-100 kg/m2) in the east of Samsun and the west of Ordu. Due to the heavy rainfall expected to be effective until the evening hours of 30.08.2026 (Sunday), it is necessary to be careful and cautious against negativities such as floods, flash floods, lightning, landslides, and disruptions in transportation.

HEAVY RAIN WARNING: Since rainfall is expected to be locally heavy in the Central Black Sea, the west of the Eastern Black Sea, the east of Central Anatolia, the inner parts of the Eastern Mediterranean, and the surroundings of Hatay, one should be careful and cautious against potential negativities.

STRONG WIND WARNING: According to the latest assessments: starting from the morning hours in the southwestern parts, the wind is expected to blow strongly and as a storm in places (50-70 km/h) from northerly directions in the surroundings of Isparta, Burdur, and Denizli, and in the inner parts of Antalya and Muğla; and in the southeast of Eastern Anatolia, in the surroundings of Van, Hakkari, Siirt, and Şırnak, and in the south and east of Bitlis, it is expected to blow from southerly and southwesterly directions as a strong wind and storm, and locally as a gusty strong storm (50-70 km/h, locally 80-90 km/h), so it is necessary to be careful and cautious against negativities such as tree and pole toppling, roof flying, and disruptions in transportation.

DUST TRANSPORT WARNING: Since dust transport is expected in the southeast of Eastern Anatolia and in Southeastern Anatolia, one should be careful and cautious against potential negativities.
