The incident took place in the Esenevler neighborhood of the Yıldırım district. According to reports, Sedair Kurnaz had hidden approximately 1 kilogram of gold, which he had saved for a house he wanted to buy in the Akçalar neighborhood of the Nilüfer district, inside a black bag wrapped in a piece of clothing to protect it from the risk of theft.
After reaching an agreement on the price with the homeowner, Kurnaz realized the bag containing the gold was missing when he went to retrieve it for payment.
Upon asking his wife about the situation, he faced the bitter truth. It is alleged that while cleaning the house, Kurnaz's wife mistook the black bag containing the gold for trash and threw it into the dumpster in front of the house.
Upon learning of the situation, Sedair Kurnaz began searching through the neighborhood dumpsters one by one and also notified the municipal cleaning teams and police. While efforts were initiated to examine security cameras in the area, local residents also supported the search to find the missing gold.
Describing the unfortunate incident, Sedair Kurnaz said, "I had bought a house in the Akçalar neighborhood. We agreed on the price. I had put about 1 kilogram of gold in a bag and hidden it. While cleaning, my wife mistook the bag for trash and threw it outside. We don't know if the garbage collectors took it or if someone rummaging through the trash took it. We informed the police and the directorate of cleaning services. Security cameras in the area will be examined. We ask anyone who finds or sees the gold to reach out to us."
The police investigation into the incident is ongoing.
