51 citizens looking to rent vehicles defrauded of 5 million 970 thousand TL
Following an investigation launched by police teams after a citizen in Kayseri was defrauded of 87 thousand TL via a website while trying to rent a vehicle, it was determined that 51 citizens across Turkey had been defrauded of a total of 5 million 970 thousand TL through the same site. In the operation carried out to apprehend the individuals responsible for the grievances, 3 suspects each were detained in Mersin, Aydın, and İzmir. Of the individuals referred to the courthouse, 6 were arrested, while 3 were released under judicial control conditions.

According to the information obtained, a citizen who wanted to rent a vehicle through a website in Kayseri was defrauded of 87 thousand TL. Upon the citizen's complaint, teams from the Kayseri Provincial Police Department's Cybercrime Branch conducted an investigation into the defrauding of people via a fake website. It was determined that the suspects created replicas of official vehicle rental websites in Turkey and defrauded citizens who wanted to rent vehicles by using mobile lines whose actual users were unknown.

Research revealed that they caused a total loss of 5 million 970 thousand TL to 51 citizens across Turkey. As a result of technical and physical surveillance conducted within the scope of the investigation coordinated by the Kayseri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a simultaneous operation was carried out in 3 provinces—Mersin, Aydın, and İzmir—to apprehend a total of 9 suspects, with 3 in each province.

All of the suspects were apprehended and taken into custody during the operations. Searches conducted by the teams resulted in the seizure of 2 unlicensed pistols, 10 mobile phones, and various amounts of narcotics.

On the other hand, of the 9 individuals referred to the courthouse, 6 were arrested by the court and sent to prison, while 3 individuals were released under judicial control conditions.

In a statement made by the Kayseri Provincial Police Department, it was stated, "We thank the personnel of the Mersin, Aydın, and İzmir Police Departments for their joint efforts and wish them continued success."
