Electric heater tragedy in İzmir: 5 siblings lose their lives
In İzmir, an overturned electric heater set a house on fire, and 5 siblings who were poisoned by the smoke from the fire lost their lives. A detention warrant has been issued for the mother following the incident.

According to the information received, neighbors who saw a fire breaking out in a house in the Cumhuriyet neighborhood reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center.
Upon the report, health and fire crews were dispatched to the scene. Meanwhile, the mother, who was reportedly returning from collecting scrap metal, arrived at the house.
Three of the 5 siblings in the same room, who were determined to have been affected by the smoke, lost their lives at the scene. Two siblings who were taken to the hospital by ambulance could not be saved despite medical intervention.
The incident occurred in the evening hours at a house in the Cumhuriyet neighborhood of the Selçuk district.
According to the information obtained, Melisa Akcan, who makes a living by collecting scrap metal, allegedly left her five children, aged between 1 and 5, at home to go collect scrap.
While the children were at home, a fire broke out after an electric heater used for heating tipped over. As the fire grew quickly and the house filled with smoke, neighborhood residents and citizens in the area noticed the fire and notified the fire and health teams.
The teams that arrived at the scene intervened and extinguished the fire, but three of the siblings trapped inside, named Nefes, Peri, Akçan, Masal, and Aras Bulut Akcan, lost their lives at the scene, while 2 were taken to the hospital by ambulance but could not be saved despite the intervention.
The mother, Melisa Sinem Akcan (27), who came to the hospital after the incident and had difficulty standing, fell ill.
A detention order was issued for the mother, Akcan, who is receiving treatment at the hospital, as part of the investigation. It was stated that mother Akcan would be treated at the hospital tonight and would be taken to the police station after her treatment.
