21 fetuses found in plastic containers: Statement from the Governor's Office
In Şanlıurfa, 21 fetuses were found in plastic containers inside a drum at a cemetery. A statement regarding the matter has been issued by the Governor's Office.

According to the information obtained, the incident took place at the New Asri Cemetery in Şanlıurfa. Citizens walking through the cemetery noticed a plastic drum. Upon looking inside the drum, the citizens realized there were dozens of plastic containers. After pushing the drum, which was on top of a concrete culvert wall, down, the citizens were horrified by what they saw. It was observed that there were 21 fetuses in the plastic containers inside the drum. Following the incident, the police were notified. Police teams dispatched to the scene have launched an investigation to determine who left the fetuses, and it was learned that hospital and doctor names were also written on the containers.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

The Şanlıurfa Governor's Office announced that the necessary examinations regarding the fetuses found in the cemetery have been carried out by the teams, and the matter has been referred to judicial authorities to clarify the situation and determine any aspects involving liability.
In the statement made by the Şanlıurfa Governor's Office, it was stated, "Upon receiving a report on May 16, 2026, that some fetuses and limbs, which are considered to have undergone medical procedures, were left in an inappropriate manner at the Asri Cemetery located in the Haliliye district, the necessary examinations were carried out on-site by expert teams. The matter has been referred to judicial authorities to clarify the situation and determine any aspects involving liability. The situation in question is being followed by our Governor's Office and will also be examined comprehensively from an administrative perspective."
