381 thousand lira fine issued in police chase with child driver: Failed to heed stop order
In Aksaray, a 16-year-old child who took his father's luxury vehicle out into traffic and failed to heed police teams' 'stop' order put the security forces on high alert. The incident took place on Ebulfeyz Elçibey Street in the Taşpazan neighborhood. According to the information obtained, 16-year-old Ö.F.K., who took his father's luxury vehicle with license plate 68 KD 202 and went into traffic with his friend M.T. (16), was spotted by police teams after driving around the city center for a while.
The Provincial Police Department Traffic Branch teams, who noticed that the driver of the vehicle passing by them was a child, signaled the driver to 'stop'.
Ö.F.K., who did not heed the warning, drove away, and traffic teams pursued him. The chase between the child, who continued to flee by ignoring the police's 'stop' orders repeatedly via megaphone, and the police was captured on camera.
Following the announcement by the traffic teams pursuing the vehicle to the police communications center and other units, all roads across the city were closed using a traffic containment method.
Ö.F.K., who fled by drifting, weaving through traffic, running red lights, and turning off the vehicle's lights in an attempt to lose the police, was caught after a 15-minute chase when teams blocked his path at the Nevşehir junction on the Aksaray-Ankara Highway.
The two children, who were taken out of the vehicle and detained, were taken to the Aksaray Training and Research Hospital for a health check.
The children were then taken to the police station to have their statements taken.
A total fine of 381 thousand lira was issued to Ö.F.K. for various violations including "failing to heed a stop order, weaving through traffic, running red lights, driving without a license, and drifting."
A judicial investigation has also been initiated against Ö.F.K. by the Aksaray Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
The vehicle was banned from traffic for 4 months and towed to a parking lot.
